Round 2 of the 2025 AEON Credit MAM Malaysia Superbike Championship came alive today at the PETRONAS Sepang International Circuit, where Azroy Hakeem Anuar of HONDA RACING MALAYSIA emerged victorious in a gripping Race 1 of the MSBK1000 A category.

In the morning’s qualifying session, Kasma Daniel Kasmayudin of HONG LEONG YAMAHA MALAYSIA set the pace with a fastest lap of 2’06.516s, followed closely by Muhd Helmi Azman (HONDA RACING MALAYSIA) at 2’06.755s, with Azroy securing third on the grid.

At the start of the race, Kasma grabbed the early lead, tailed by Azroy and Helmi. By lap 2, Azroy reached a top speed of 240.5km/h as he hunted down Kasma. On lap 6, Azroy clocked the race’s fastest lap at 2’07.017s and overtook Kasma for the lead, with Helmi holding steady in third. Meanwhile, Md Amir Izzat Rozali (HORIZON RACING TEAM) and Adam Norrodin (AMI SUZUKI MOTORSPORT) battled behind in fourth and fifth.

The leading trio soon pulled away by 8 seconds from the chasing pack. On lap 8, Kasma struck back to reclaim the lead from Azroy, setting up an electrifying final showdown.

The climax came on the last lap, when Azroy made a bold move on the final corner to regain the lead. Helmi stayed close in third, while Amir edged past Adam for fourth place. Despite a desperate final charge from Kasma, Azroy held firm and crossed the line first in a photo-finish, just 0.019s ahead.

Azroy completed the race in 21’20.752s, narrowly beating Kasma (21’20.771s) and Helmi (21’21.127s).

Reflecting on his win, Azroy said:

“The weather was really hot and the race was challenging. I had some rear brake problems midway, which slowed me down a bit, but I pushed through in the final laps. On the last lap with Kasma, I honestly didn’t know if I could win, but I gave it my all. Alhamdulillah, luck was with me today. Tomorrow we have Race 2, and I hope to repeat this performance.”

SIC and TWMR extended their heartfelt thanks to AEON Credit (M) Berhad for their generous support throughout the weekend.
